History

In 1988 Niall McDonagh spotted the potential for architectural antiques and established Architectural Salvage Ltd. Growing on the back of a major boom in the Irish economy Architectural Salvage soon became the biggest operator in the Irish market. In the years since then Niall has increased his international buying network, expanded his management team and developed an overseas presence, building a major European operation that has become a market leader in a number of important sectors. The business has moved away from its foundations in salvage and since 1997 has concentrated on smaller, more exclusive pieces. This strategy has been a success, securing Architectural Salvage a niche as one of Europe’s leading lighting specialists.

In early 2000 Architectural Salvage was amalgamated into a new web-based business, Architectural Classics.com that is exclusively involved in the purchase and sale of period and classical items. The company is the only one in its sector recognized by the Irish Antique Dealers Association and, following a six-year waiting period, was admitted as a member of the International Confederation of Antique Dealers (CINOA).
