First Knowledge Conference, December 2014, honoring Jimmy Wales in Dubai

Sponsored by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation

Previously, 21 December 2012, Jimmy Wales said:

When I went to Saudi Arabia, I spoke openly about freedom of speech and human rights - particularly the rights of women - and told an all-male audience that it was offensive that women were excluded from the meeting. (They were in the next room listening in!) In this case, I deeply regret having been in that situation in the first place (I did not realize the audience would be totally segregated in that way), and if I am invited again to Saudi Arabia I will insist on different arrangements being made or I won't do a public lecture.

One wonders if the few women in the audience in Dubai satisfied Mr. Wales' demand that the audience not be "totally segregated"?
