Greeting

Welcome!

Hi Nanaimobar, welcome to MyWikiBiz. We're happy that you've taken the steps to become a member of our site. MyWikiBiz is a directory where any person, any company, any product, or any thing can author their own legacy. We seek to provide the space for 265 million entities. Our registered editors like you have generated over 60,000 pages so far -- help keep that number growing with an article about yourself, your business, your industry, your favorite product, hobby, or organization. Since 2008, MyWikiBiz.com has served up over 1 million page views. Get started authoring your legacy today!

Helpful tips

Here are some tips on how to create a Directory listing and take advantage of the semantic web features we have in place:

 • You may write as an opinionated advocate in the Directory -- neutral view is not required. You can sell products, promote videos, upload documents, even host your own Google AdSense ads. This auto-fill form will guide you through creating a very basic directory listing right now.
 • Because MyWikiBiz supports Semantic Web technology, search engine results are highly optimized. Internal searches can also be performed that wouldn't be possible on Google, MySpace, or Wikipedia.

A few favorite pages that might help acquaint a new user with the possibilities are found among the Demonstration links, or in these articles written by independent reviewers.

Listing

Hi Nanaimobar, can you create Directory:Punzhu Puzzles? Just copy/paste over everything from Punzhu Puzzles and then we'll delete the entry. (Main space is reserved for NPOV.) Btw, to run an ASK query, just copy the code over from Portal:Information and make changes as required. Also, there's a tag within the infobox that handles legal names, which would be perfect for Summerfield’s Limited. Snerfling 14:56, 28 January 2007 (PST)

Hi Snerfling,
I've created the Directory, without the code from Portal Information as I was unsure of changes to make and didn't want to mess up anything else. I will review that when I am more sure of what I'm doing. For the tag for legal names that you mentioned, do I just copy and past everything in the Infobox_Company code section and paste that in the top of my Directory article? --Nanaimobar 15:50, 28 January 2007 (PST)
The Portals all have ASK queries that be copied over and played with. The legal name is included within the contact reference within the infobox - here's the section for Centiare:
contact = [[Legal_Name:=Karl Nagel & Co., LLC|[[Directory:Karl Nagel
Co.|Karl Nagel & Co., LLC]]]]
<br>Address:=PO Box 7752<br>Huntington Beach,
State_Code:=CA  Country_Code:=US
Zip:=92615-Plus4:=1234<br>Phone:=714.520.1667
<br>[[Web:=www.centiare.com|www.centiare.com]]
[[Email:=info@centiare.com|[mailto:info@centiare.com Mail]]]|

reference = Year End: 12/31<br>DUNS:
DUNS:=95-123456<br>NAICS: NAICS_Code1:=51811<br>[[Entity
Type|Entity]]:
[[Entity_Type:=LLC|LLC]]<br>Region:
[[Region1:=Orange County|[[Directory:Orange County|The
OC]]]]<br>Latitude:
33°39'26.64"<br>Longitude:
-117°58'4.8"
Note: if you want to use this template and edit as necessary, copy it directly from Centiare, not here. The version above has line breaks inserted for readability that will effect the look of the page. Snerfling 16:19, 28 January 2007 (PST)

Infobox Company

Hi, Snerfling, I modified code from Directory:Ceniare and added it to my Directory but I now have a dash-lined box around the coding at the top of my page. I obviously have done something wrong and am retiring from computer for the night. I will take another look at it in morning with a fresh view. Thanks for all your help, you've been great.

Oops, I apologize for not being more clear. Centiare templates start/end with double curly braces like this . The full infobox company template can be found at Template:Infobox_Company and looks like this:

The easiest way to use infoboxes (or anything else, really), is to use a pre-loaded one like Centiare's, or the ones used at the Add a listing facility, then go back and edit as necessary with your actual information. (Note how much information can be input within any section of the infobox?) By the way, the <pre> tag is how you get Centiare to display templates/code, rather than actually run them. Sector Listings

Thanks, Snerfling. I now have a proper box with information. One last question: How do I add Punzhu Puzzles to the Sector Listings table on the Portal:Information number 51-Information page? The code on the 51-Information page appears to automatically grab the appropriate data and insert it into the table. Am I missing some special code on my Directory page? --Nanaimobar 09:31, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Portal listings have to be re-generated whenever there are new listings, such as yours, since they are based on computer database queries. That is, there's nothing to retrieve until users create their listings and record the appropriate data. Once it's stored, then the ASK query will pull up whatever is there based on the search parameters. The best way to get a listing re-generated is to send a request to help (at) centiare (dot) com.
I noticed that you have two NAICS categories - one two-digit and one six-digit. Centiare only needs the first five digits; in addition, NAICS_Code1, NAICS_Code2, etc allow you to enter multiple industries. (Go here to see an example of IBM using multiple codes.) If you go here, you can follow the link to the official US Census NAICS listings. I've found that a couple of NAICS codes really, (and I mean really) helps out on Google searches.
Btw, the infobox_company can also handle your company's logo if you want to put it inside the box like IBM. Snerfling 10:01, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Catalog Sub Pages

I should have also mentioned that you can easily create sub-pages within your directory listing merely be adding a forward-slash (/) after the name. Using this example:

http://www.centiare.com/Directory:Punzhu_Puzzles/Reports

would get you this Directory:Punzhu_Puzzles/Reports. Once you create the page, just go to Portal:Information and copy/paste over the ASK query. From there, you can test different examples, etc to see how it looks.

Btw, sub-pages are also how you can create different product listings, categories, etc within a primary directory listing. Take a look at KJ Kitchens to see how one person is creating a recipe book built up of separate pages.

You can see why a couple of users are planning on using this facility to create some nice looking on-line semantic web catalogs. Once Centiare has their semantic tags linked to order systems like Amazon, et al, it becomes quickly evident how important these semantic directory features will become. Snerfling 13:40, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Subpages

Your puzzles look great. You might consider using subpages to further organize different categories/types of puzzles so that your primary listing doesn't get too long. If you take a look here, you can see how another user broke down their services and used semantic tags to organize a summary list.

You might also wish to post some general puzzle info in the Main space and link back to your Directory listing using the technique described below. Snerfling 06:12, 15 February 2007 (PST)

Main Space Marketing

You might be interested in reading about Centiare's Main space marketing program. It provides a ready way of linking Main space articles to Directory listings by subject interest and contributions. The semantic tags not only help cross-reference interests, parties and information, but they really improve Google search rankings. You should also read about Centiare's prohibitions on Main space link spam - the Directory space provides the proper means for promoting and protecting proprietary material. Snerfling 06:12, 15 February 2007 (PST)

I took the liberty of adding games, puzzles & Sudoku to your interests & contributions. If you click through the aficionados links on those pages, you will see a cross-reference of your interests & contributions. This is what we refer to as main space marketing. It's our way of rewarding contributions to main space articles with links back to commercial directory listings. Hopefully, readers will click through to your product examples from these articles and perhaps purchase something. Snerfling 15:32, 17 February 2007 (PST)

Sub Pages

Thanks, Snerfling. Great suggestions (as always).

I have so much to learn about the many uses and benefits offered by Centiare. Your guidance is hugely responsible for the look of my contributions. I will make these changes as soon as I'm finished completing a couple of jobs.

UPDATE:

Made changes by creating sub-directories such as Punzhu Puzzles/crossword, deleted all the verbiage on main directory page of Punzhu, tried (emphasis on the try part) to make section look like the kitchen recipe one or the graphics company and gave up after too many bangs against my head. Shall try again when noggin unfuzzed. What's that saying? Stick to what you know? I think there may be some truth to that. Or is it the one about you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I shall return!--Nanaimobar 16:16, 16 February 2007 (PST)

I think it looks pretty good. All you have to do is add 'product of' and 'product name' like I did to Punzhu Puzzles/Kakuro and it will automatically update at your main listing (just edit/save). If you want to clean up each puzzle section, you can take out the biz contact info so that each product page focuses only on a particular puzzle. Snerfling 18:22, 16 February 2007 (PST)
Reply: Boy, that was easy. Thanks Snerfling. Which particular contact biz info on the product pages are you referring to? Is it the external links to the Contact Us page on my web site? Or the right side and bottom corporate information? (Going to watch wrestling now) Thanks again. PS: When will the other product pages show up on main Punzhu Puzzles directory? --Nanaimobar 19:48, 16 February 2007 (PST)
I would remove all business contact information (both links & infobox) and focus mainly on the particular product features, etc. You can take a look at Directory:BIG Images/Banner Works to see how they roll up their various service offerings to their main corporate page.
To update an ASK query, simply edit/save - you can check your updated report now. Btw, it looks like you missed 'product name' for Sudoku. One last note: Garrett Minks is another resident pro; feel free to contact him with any questions as well. Snerfling 07:39, 17 February 2007 (PST)

Services

If you want, you can add service supages as well. Relation:Service Of and Attribute:Service Name operate just like the product roll-ups. That way, instead of listing services at your main corp page, you can just ran another ASK query. Snerfling 15:37, 17 February 2007 (PST)
