Checkpoint
Checkpoint is the second full-length album released by heavy metal musician Tom Walker. It was released on February 21, 2009 on CD. It followed on from Walker's first release Another Ode, and was over twice the length of the first album. This was Walker's only album with a fully digital cover; all other album and single covers have included a photograph. The album contains an instrumental track, which at the time was Walker's longest, the eight-minute long title track 'Checkpoint'. This is also Walker's only song to be played in Drop B tuning. The album is in a mixture of guitar tunings; tracks 1, 5 and 9 are in Eb, 3 and 14 are in standard, 2 is in Drop B, 6, 10 and 11 are in Drop D, 8 and 12 are in D and the remainder are in Drop C.
The fourteenth track on the album is a cover of the indie rock band Johnny Goes West. The tenth track 'Adrenaline' is written as a direct sequel to Another Ode's 'Downhill Flight' and the name of the track 'Leave it Out' later re-appeared in the song 'All You People', a B-side from the single 'Come Back to Me'.
