The University of Central Florida Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers organizations under the Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Council, and the Diversified Greek Council. The Order of Omega has a chapter at the university. [1]

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) comprises 16 fraternities, the Panhellenic Council is made up of 10 sororities. In addition there are also many multicultural and honor Greek organizations. The Diversified Greek Council consists of 9 cultural organizations (Latino, Asian, South Asian, etc.), four fraternities and five sororities. The National Pan-Hellenic Council comprises nine historically-black organizations, five fraternities and four sororities). There are now also three recognized fraternal organizations for Christian students.[2]

Greek Life at the University of Central Florida is some of the strongest in the United States, involving more than 2,700 students in over 40 chapters.[3] Approximately 11% of current undergraduates males and 9% of undergraduate females are members of either a sorority or fraternity.[4]

UCF offers housing to eleven Greek organizations in Greek Park on its main campus in Orlando, Florida. In the future the university plans to construct a larger Greek Park II on adjacent land.

Academics

In Greek Life at UCF there is a great emphasis put on academics. In fact, the average GPA of Greek Life is higher than the overall university average.

UCF's Greek Life won the inaugural Mid-America Conference Grade Point Average Award, which is given to the university with the highest Greek GPA above their campus’ non-Greek GPA. In 2003, Florida Leader Magazine named UCF the university with the best Greek academics program in the state.[5]

Greek Park

Greek housing is also available on the main campus in the Greek Park community, which consists of close to 400 beds.[6] There are six sororities and three fraternities housed on campus, with five fraternities offering housing off campus. In addition, two previously unoccupied houses are currently being renovated by the university and will house Kappa Alpha Theta and Theta Chi beginning in Fall 2009.[7] There was a sixth fraternity house on campus that was demolished in May 2008, and plans for two new houses in its spot are currently under review.

UCF plans on constructing a Greek Park II, which will have a much higher population density than that currently of Greek Park, when it becomes financially feasible for the university.[8]
