Helpful tips

Here are some tips on how to create a Directory listing and take advantage of the semantic web features we have in place:

  • You may write as an opinionated advocate in the Directory -- neutral view is not required. You can sell products, promote videos, upload documents, even host your own Google AdSense ads. This auto-fill form will guide you through creating a very basic directory listing right now.
  • Because MyWikiBiz supports Semantic Web technology, search engine results are highly optimized. Internal searches can also be performed that wouldn't be possible on Google, MySpace, or Wikipedia.

A few favorite pages that might help acquaint a new user with the possibilities are found among the Demonstration links, or in these articles written by independent reviewers.

Listing

Your listing looks great - if you want to see an example of how to display a gallery of images, just go here. While you can't edit another person's directory listing, you can look at their code. Look for the <gallery> tag. Snerfling 07:30, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Semantic Tags & Subpages

You might be interested to know that there's a couple of semantic tags available to provide greater detail about your services. (These tags are picked up for SEO and really juice search results.) They can work either at your main directory listing, or on a subpage(s); the two tags are Attribute:Service Name and Relation:Service Of.

You can see them in action at Directory:Centiare/Services (cursory demo) and KJ Kitchens (extensive using same principles with Recipe Name and Page Of). If you don't want to create a services subpage, (if you do, create a link in your infobox as well - see Centiare for an example), you can use the attribute tags within your primary directory listing.

If you do create a services subpage, you can go one step further and have separate stand-alone subpages for each service. That is, if you really wanted to get into pricing, service details, photo galleries, etc. Relation:Service Of is great for providing roll-ups from stand-alone pages since an ASK query will summarize them all in one place (like a catalog). Cool - looks like you're using Relation:Service Of perfectly. Suggestion - I would use the Attribute:Service Name as the service reference within each page. (The RDF should show a relation & attribute at the bottom of each page.) Btw, we've set up a mechanism to allow marketing via the Main pages. IOW, directory listed entities can cross-reference their interests/contributions from main page links eg Large format printing. You can read more on how to implement here. Drop me a line if you have any questions. Snerfling 21:55, 5 February 2007 (PST)

Main Space Marketing

I added a Relation:Subject Interest link from BIG's industry tag to printing, and then included the Centiare:Aficionados template at printing for main space marketing. You can see the results here. Q: would you like to fill this article out a little bit?

You could even drop some case study material into your directory listing, create a Relation:Contributor To tag (see example here), and it would show up in the aficionados Centiare:ASK query as a contribution. Snerfling 06:04, 8 February 2007 (PST)
